I forgot I had downloaded the song Feminist by Andrea Florian a few months ago and stumbled upon it when I was listening to my iPod the other day. I love it. It has such great attitude. It was written in 1997, but it's still so appropriate.

i listen to people saying that the feminist movement is over, so baby, baby, baby, why don't you take that chip off your shoulder. i guess my standing here is proof that it's not, there's thousands others who would agree, thing is, they do it silently.. and statistics will say a certain number of women are raped by men. i want to know about the ones who don't announce it to the government.

i am a feminist, and i claim the word proudly,
it doesn't necessarily mean i'm a lesbian,
but then again, maybe i am.
and maybe my sexual preference is really none of your business
i said its none of your business, but you still don't get it

cuz i've got nothing better to do.
and maybe if you still don't understand the word, then for God's sake open up a book and look it up.
it's all about respect, such a simple thing really.
too bad that in 1997, so many of us still don't get it.
